Yancey County Schools are among some of the finest schools in the
state. In fact, four Yancey County schools ranked in the top ten for
most improved schools statewide, and 88% of all Yancey County school
students tested at or above their grade level. In addition to the
North Carolina standard course curriculum, the teachers are also
encouraged to use their creativity and they even offer career-based
education classes to ensure the students are performing at their
highest potential.
Most of the Yancey County school successes can be attributed to
their dedicated and innovative teachers and staff. Yancey County
schools consist of six elementary schools, two middle schools, and
